Michigan USA Wrestling General Meeting and proposed Bylaws changes

Wrestlers, Coaches and Parents. Michigan USA Wrestling will be holding its annual General Membership meeting on Sunday September 16th at 10:00 a.m. at a location to be announced next week. All Michigan USA Wrestling Member clubs are invited as we wrap up our 2018 year and look forward to 2019.

 

One topic of discussion will be some changes and modification to our Bylaws to keep up with a changing and evolving sport. Before a vote is cast, these proposals must be provided in writing prior to the General Membership meeting. This email, along with our website will reflect those proposed modifications to the Michigan USA Wrestling Bylaws.

 

 

 

 

Proposal A :         Present reading

 

Members of the Executive Committee are elected to a two year term at the annual membership meeting, with the exception of the positions of Director of Pairings and Director of Officials which are elected on a yearly basis by the pairers and officials at the M-USAW state tournament.  The State Chairperson is elected in even years and with the exception of the Pairings and Official Directors the balance of the Executive Board elected in odd numbered years.

 

Proposal:

 

Members of the Executive Committee are elected to a two year term at the annual membership meeting, with the exception of the positions of Director of Pairings and Director of Officials which are elected on a yearly basis by the pairers and officials at the M-USAW state tournament.  The State Chairperson and Secretary are elected in even years and with the exception of the Pairings and Official Directors the balance of the Executive  Board elected in odd numbered years.

 

Proposal B:                Present reading:

 

G.  The Web-Site Coordinator shall be responsible for maintaining, updating and upgrading (as needed), the M-USAW web site. The Web-Site Coordinator, members of the Executive Committee, State Chairperson and Secretary shall cooperate in maintaining communications by means and methods to assure that the general membership is well informed of current operations and events of the M-USAW. Due to the time demands and base knowledge base needed for this person to perform job responsibilities for this position, an annual stipend of $1500 shall be paid to the Web-Site Coordinator.

 

Proposal:

Proposal C: Present reading:

 

D.  The Membership Coordinator shall be responsible for all of the USA Wrestling memberships for M-USAW members.  This includes competitors, coaches and general membership. The Membership Coordinator shall be responsible for USA Wrestling membership cards and the distribution of USA Wrestling materials to clubs and sanctioned tournament hosts in a timely manner.  The Membership Coordinator shall work closely with the M-USAW Treasurer assure prompt payment of dues by members. The Membership Coordinator shall compile and maintain a membership data base for each current season. Due to the services to M-USAW, an annual stipend of $1500 shall be paid to the Membership Coordinator.

The State Chairperson must have served in some capacity on the elected executive board for at least one full term ( 2 years) as a prerequisite to the office.

 

 

 

Bylaw Changes will be voted on at the September meeting. Each Michigan USA Wrestling Club will have three votes with those in attendance.
