MUSAW Weigh in Procedures for Freestyle and Greco events, 2026

Age groups 14U, 16U and Junior will be migrating to “Day-of Weigh In’s” for all MUSAW Developmental and State Level Freestyle events effective for the 2026 season.  In addition, for these divisions, we will be moving to the USA wrestling specified weight classes and discontinuing the “Block” weights.

Weigh In’s will all take place one hour before the event starts.  The open window for weigh in is 30 minutes.  Anyone “in line” for that 30-minute window will be allowed to weigh in.  After the 30-minute period, the weigh in line will close.   We will weigh in anyone in line at that point.

·       If Greco Starts at 9:00 am, weigh-in window will be 8:00 to 8:30

·       If Freestyle starts no later than 12:00, weigh-in window will be 11:00 to 11:30

·       If you are wrestling both styles, only one weigh-in is required

Other considerations:

·       There will be no allowances for ANY weigh-in.

·       If a wrestler does NOT make weight, they will be bumped to the next weight class.

·       Wrestlers will be allowed to bump one weight class from where they are registered.

·       We also reserve the right to bump wrestlers one weight to create competitive brackets.

·       If there are NO other wrestlers available to compete at that weight or one up, the athlete then can choose to stay for exhibitions or go home.

·       There will be no “Minimum” weight competed at for eligibility for the State Finals

Age groups 12U and down will continue to enter weights in the Bracketing/Membership system during registration.  These age divisions will continue to be blocked weights until further notice.

 Other considerations:

·       Each event will have a weight audit on a division/gender.  Any athletes over 2 pounds from where they entered will be removed from the event and will; have                specified weigh ins for the rest of the developmental season.

·       The State Finals will continue to have Day of Weigh in’s

·       We will continue to “Block Weight” brackets at developmental events

·       For pairing.  Only coaches with a Leadership Membership will be allowed to speak with pairing about weight classes, individuals or mistakes in bracketing.

·       No “accommodations” or “asks” for athletes to be moved in brackets will be allowed unless there is a mistake or a valid reason.

·       12U and under will have random weight audits prior to any event

Questions regarding Pairing can be emailed to, [email protected]
