The official name for this event is ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet National Championships, but everyone just refers to it as Fargo. This is the premier Freestyle and Greco Roman tournament in the country and arguably the toughest wrestling tournament in the nation. Michigan is allowed to bring 3 wrestlers at each weight class for the Cadet and Junior age groups. There are two ways to qualify outlined below.
Qualify through the Central Regionals – as long as you are in good standing with MiUSA wrestling and place in the top three you are qualified for the National Tournament in Fargo.
Qualify through our State tournament and camp series. We take the top two interested placers from the state tournament and then a third participant that challenges their way on from camp.
In case of documented injuries and other scheduling conflicts there is a right to petition on to the team though this is only used in extreme circumstances and has not been use in over ten years. |
